The Complete Picture Story of Your Wedding Day. UNOBTRUSIVE & UNTRADITIONAL… Before Spencer ever became a freelance photojournalist for The Boston Globe, or Associate Press, back in high school at BB&N in the early 90’s in Cambridge, MA, he had his first taste for the thrill of creating moments that told a story in a single image. Since then he's had the photojournalism bug and hasn’t been able to stop. Now living in Vermont with his wife and son, Spencer fills that high as a documentary-style wedding photographer. "I still get goose bumps looking at images I’ve captured that make many of my clients cry out of joy. I thrive to never let go of that feeling." The vast majority of the talent behind his skill is based on preconceiving optimum composition while always being ready for the unexpected and able to transition to the next decisive moment. Beyond this, it’s always having the best gear within reach and being in the right place at the right time. In Spencer's opinion, the term photojournalism as it pertains to wedding photography has become overused in recent years and more & more misused by traditional wedding photographers. He believes that to properly designate oneself as a wedding photographer that specializes in the photojournalism style or calls himself/herself a “wedding photojournalist”, one must do more than be able to photograph the action of an event. For this style, Spencer believes that photographer must be able to anticipate the reaction to that one specific moment of each action, pre-conceiving the appropriate composition of that split-second decisive moment and then look for and anticipate the next. This is what Spencer strives to do during each unique moment for each wedding story he documents. "Though I consider myself very untraditional, you will see that I still capture all of the required traditional moments you expect of any wedding photographer, from designing the family & wedding party formals in the shortest amount of time possible; certain that we have already located the optimum locations, while still leaving ample time for romantic poses portraying your true love, to of course being in the right places always at the right time, to properly lighting all of the fun details, etc… 2013/2014 prices start at $3,500 and include full day coverage by Spencer, an online gallery & digital negatives. Additional items for a custom package might include: > E-Session with guestbook > Rehearsal Party coverage > Wedding Day slide show > Premium proofing prints > Custom designed albums "Fantastic Job! My wife and I are both ecstatic. You truly captured not only the events, but also more importantly, the mood, and people's personalities; it's as if you knew everyone that you photographed for years. The morning (hair, makeup, dressing) photos you took are a testament to how comfortable everyone was around you. Likewise, the posed shots are loose andfun...exactly what we wanted. As a [NYC] still life photographer myself, I was also happy to see no shortage of details. I can't thank you enough. I couldn't have asked for a better photographer if I hired a Magnum shooter. You rock!” Tiffani & Rob - Whiteface Lodge, Lake Placid, NY - Fall, 2011 “Words don’t even begin to describe how grateful we feel for everything you have done for us. You stood by us when we needed it most and showed your dedication by still photographing our wedding even though our location had to change state last minute because of Hurricane Irene. You captured all those special moments in such a creative and unique way. We now have these memories for the rest of our lives – which is so special. In the short time we spent together you were able to understand our relationship with each other, with our families and with our friends, to create a storybook of memories. We truly appreciate your hard work and we highly recommend you to anyone!” Tenney & David - Private Home, Longmeadow, MA - Fall, 2011 “You went above and beyond the duties of a photographer and we do not know what we would have done without you! We were so lucky to have you with us that day, and are absolutely in love with all the photos that you took. Many parts of our wedding were unplanned, but you managed to keep us all calm and organized which was definitely appreciated! Thank you for helping to make our day perfect!” Kristen & Eric - Mountain Top Inn, Chittenden, VT - Summer, 2011 (night of Hurricane Irene) Associate Photographer: Brooke Kaltsas - A 2004 Williams graduate, former alpine ski racer & artist of many mediums, Brooke has always been able to capture moments of beauty and love in the world around her and Spencer Leonard Photography is thrilled to have her help. Brooke’s passion for photography was triggered by a desire to document her family’s history, and her love of the arts propelled this hobby into a career as a local Stowe based photographer. From running up a mountain to lying in the grass, She will do whatever it takes to get the best possible alternate view of your wedding. In addition to composition, she sees compassion as one of her most valuable assets as a photographer. Brooke notes, “I’ve had numerous occasions where my eyes have filled with tears of joy while working with a couple on there wedding day; witnessing and understanding the love and excitement drives me to do the best I can to document the essence of the day as it unfolds”. In addition to documenting weddings with Spencer Leonard Photography, Brooke mostly enjoys photographing pets, skiers, bands, runners, and families spending time together in and around Stowe, VT.
